I was so determined to wear shorts and hosiery, this time. I even tried to plan it out well in advance. If you will pardon the cheesy expression: I got cold feet.
I began to wonder how it would look. I was concerned that I would appear too naked and feminine to everybody. Also, we were running late, but that is not really an excuse.
I originally intended to wear a pair of mostly opaques, but somehow, it felt all wrong.
I thought about it on the way to the gathering. I think that it is because I do not usually walk around anywhere with pantyhose feet exposed. Usually, wearing shoes completes the look, and this makes it feel more masculine to me. This is especially more true, now that I am wearing boots casually.
Also, when wearing in public, I do not really interact so closely with strangers. Therefore every short relationship is a disposable relationship, which means that I do not have to worry about what they think. With the relatives, I do not want them to think about why I would be wearing them, unless they intend to be open minded. Even though they have seen my book, and even though they have seen me in hosiery, and even though they are not negative, it is still hard to know exactly they feel.
I think that this opaque textured grey hosiery with black shorts combination is a fantastic solution.
The opaqueness seems more masculine, and opaqueness seems more appropriate in winter. Even though that night's weather was not too cold for me, it was cold for a lot of people, so they probably tended to feel that sheers for guys would be too cold.
Also, the textured fabric gives a more complete look, in my opinion. It seems masculine, too.
My only complaint for that outfit is the sweater, which I like so much. I am concerned that it might be hard to clean. It is machine washable, but I feel that a machine could wear it out and stretch it out. I could hand wash it, but I find that hand washing takes so long, and that it is hard to know clean it really is.
I think that this machine washable sweater might work better.
It does not stretch as is durable. It is already textured in a way that hides any pills, so machine washing will not harm it. It is just a question of whether or not the style works with the black shorts and the grey textured opaques.
You now know what I did and what I think. Tell me what you wore to your Christmas gatherings. What do you think about my planned style for next year? What do you think about guys wearing sheers or mostly-opaques without shoes? Is it an incomplete look? Please leave your advice in the comments below!

I honestly did not expect much to happen at this year's gathering. I thought that hosiery was becoming more popular for wearing in public, and for small groups of women, but I thought that most would lose interest.
It turned out that 3 relatives and 1 guest wore hosiery.
The guest wore patterned hosiery. From a distance, I thought that she wore mostly-opaques that had patterns, but when I got closer, it appeared to be a patterned mesh, like fishnets. From a distance, it looked good. I did not want to stare, so I did not get a close enough look to guess at how comfortable they were. They looked like they were midrange to high quality, and seemed to match her dark skirt suit.
My niece wore black opaques, which appeared to be cotton. They did not look super awesome, but they seemed to match her party dress. She is just a kid, though, so any hosiery is a good influence for her.
My cousin wore a green dress, which appeared to be a mostly opaque chifon material. She wore black sheers. When I got close, I noticed how finely knit the hosiery fabric was, so I assumed that she was wearing HUE, or some other higher end brand. This was totally surprising, because she doesn't usually wear dresses or hosiery. She is not a tomboy, but she comes across as more casual in her daily wear, so I was glad to see that she embraced something better. Maybe she will be a great influence on others.
My aunt wore nude sheers. She typically wears some kind of nude hosiery, so I was not too surprised.
I was happy to see 3 generations of women wearing hosiery. Each of them wore dresses or skirts.
Another cousin wore leggings as pants.
Come back tomorrow to find out what I wore [or did not wear, actually...].

A writer at Yahoo! News does not seem to like Pipa Middleton's gold coloured outfit. Do you agree?
I have such mixed feelings about it. On 1 hand, I do not like the style or the colour, but on the other hand, it seems to look like it should be okay. I feel that she should continue to wear hosiery with it, but I also feel that the hosiery does not help it much. It would look better, if she wore matte skin coloured sheers. However, the whole outfit could use a nice visual break, which means that black hosiery would be better.
It is a very tough call. I would love to see what you fashion people have to say.

It is hard to believe that Christmas is here.
Be sure to let us know what you got for Christmas? Did you get any hosiery?
Nobody buys me hosiery for Christmas. :^( I understand, though. :^D

The rest of my post tells you all.
While I still find her beautiful and desirable, I do not find that particular dress very flattering. The black opaques seem very delicious, though.
The dress fabric seems to cling to the hosiery, and also seems to show the waistband underneath. Also, the dress seems to have fabric pills.
See more photos of her walking along in this gallery. The other photos might show the problems more clearly.
I find that the wrinkles make her look a little messier, and may even give her the appearance of bulges. What do you think? Am I being too hard on her?

Let us start this week off with Pippa Middleton. Just look at how happy she is. She must be wearing hosiery.
See the full gallery yourself. What do you think?
Be sure to check back on Wednesday for another photo of her.
