Feet Still A Little Rough

I have been applying petroleum jelly regularly, and my feet are much smoother, but the heels still have a slight Velcro feel, when removing hosiery. I think that I need to start applying in between showers. I remember my heels being smoother when I did it before. In those days, I applied it more.

Also, the skin problems might be because my feet are more calloused from all the walking with my door knocking jobs, whereas before, I only had regular thick skinned heels.

Are any of you dealing rough feet?

  1. Have you considered buying a ped-egg?
My personal solution to this problem is to once a week have a good long soak in a hot bath, which will soften the hard heel skin. When it is nice and soft, I use a pan scourer (nylon, not the metal type, but feel free to experiment)to scrub away the softened skin. Works like a charm for me. I feel that the 10 minutes you get in a shower isn't enough time to soften the hard skin.

  2. I use a heal scrubbing thing like ped-egg, but mine is metal and has a sanding pad. So I'll use that a couple minutes on each heal, both the scrubbing and sanding when needed. And I'll do it before and after a shower when needed. I use to go to bed after putting lotion heavily on my heals and then a sock, but that didn't work fast enough for me but did help some.

  3. I'll look into the ped-egg. Thanks for the feedback. I might be struggling with bad feet, because I take such long showers. If I'm slow enough, I could go beyond 30 minutes. I sometimes take a while because I don't feel squeaky clean. Also, I might be really tired, and forget where I've washed.

  4. Eugene, it is important to put socks on after you apply Vaseline. My routine usually would be: shower, Vaseline, socks, and straight to sleep. Constant scrubbing actually encourages the skin to grow faster and thicker (same as with shaving hair or old-school manicure - the more you cut it, the more it grows).

  5. I usually put on hosiery right after a shower. Doesn't that work just as well?

  6. My theory is as follows: when you go to sleep right after you put on Vaseline and then cotton socks, it helps soften your skin in the warmth under the blanket; plus, you are not walking on your feet and making Vaseline absorb in the hosiery you are wearing.
