Used Hosiery: Belt

I like the idea of using old hosiery as a belt, which came from, 500 Things to Do with Pantyhose... Besides Wear Them! Ingenious and Useful Ways to Give Old Pantyhose New Life. Read the remainder of the blog entry to see my suggestions on how to improve the idea.

Be sure to check out the other used hosiery ideas, by clicking used, which can also be found in the right column, under Popular Topics.

In the book, she suggests taking 1 leg, and using it as a belt, which actually seems kind of cool. It seems to me to be a great idea for women, but I do not know if guys would want that left over bit dangling from their waists.

Unfortunately, she does not suggest anything on dealing with the raw edges of the fabric or the reinforcements, or the seams. I suggest cutting off any seams and reinforced areas, and then applying nail polish to prevent fraying. Instead of applying nail polish, you could always sew it. When you do not have to wear that hosiery over your leg, sewing is especially good, because you do not have to worry about making the sewed edge stretchy.
