Used Hosiery: Covering For Snake Bite

photo of rattle snake

Use hosiery if you have a snake bite. Read the article for the instructions. Do NOT use it as tourniquet. If I understand correctly, we are supposed to apply some pressure, but not enough to cut off circulation.

British Red Cross first aid kit

This is a good reason to keep a bunch of hosiery in a first aid kit. If the victim is wearing a pair at the time, you could cut off the hosiery legs at the thigh, and use them to cover the bite. If the victim survives, then he will probably kill you for ruining his hosiery. So, there are obviously trade offs.

Do any of you have any more information on this? Do I understand it correctly? If you have a high level of first aid, then please let me know.

Thank you for reading!
