Door To Door Hosiery Salesman [Day 1]

Wow. That was a tough night. I even quit an hour and a half early. The rest of my post tells you all.

I went door to door, seeing if I could sell some of the hosiery that CanadianLegging.ca had sent me. I did this to make some cash, and because I feel obligated to get rid of some of the hosiery. The people were polite, but they were not interested. I am not entirely clear on why that is. I suspect that it has nothing to do with my appearance. I also suspect that it is simply because people in general do not like to buy stuff at the door.

My first approach was "Hi. My name Eugene. I'm trying to start my own local business. May I tell you 3 more things about it?" Usually, they do allow me to carry on. Then I say, "My business is a hosiery business. My friend is the manufacturer, and he is in Ontario. By buying a pair or more, you would end up supporting 2 Canadian businesses.".

I ended up changing the last line a few times. First, I changed it to something like, "Do you know anybody in the home, or are there family members would like a pair?". I think that I modified it to "You could support a local business by buying a pair for somebody here, or for a family friend.". Not surprisingly, it still did not work.

I am getting sleepy now, so I cannot remember what I said after that, but I think that I changed it around, on the way home, on the bus. I decided to change it, because when I ask for permission, it felt like begging. I will still ask for permission, because I want to be respectful of people's time, but in general, I hope to have a better approach.

My current script will involve a mention of me donating the hosiery to a thrift store, and me donating a portion of the proceeds to a non-profit group. The idea is that the majority of people do not even really care about hosiery. So, why talk about features or being a Canadian business? I bet people are more interested in supporting a non-profit.

Any advice?? Thank you for reading!

#DavidBeckham #Mantyhose Campaign

My blog post about David Beckham wearing hosiery sparked a small discussion on Twitter. I think that we should really start a campaign to get him into a pair of shorts and hosiery. This campaign is open to businesses and individuals. It will take a huge group effort. Please join. The rest of my post tells you all.

I Have Been Distracted

For those of you who have been loyally following this blog, thank you for your patience. I have been distracted by a couple of things.

I have been focusing on my writing assignment. I am proud to say that I finished it, basically, but I decided to add more stuff to it, to polish it up.

I have been also helping my mom out with a difficult problem, so even though it does not take a lot of time, it distracts me so much, and as it is, I am undisciplined with my time.

I hope to do more blogging soon.

Might Wear Shorts And Hosiery After Work

I think that I will never wear hosiery and shorts again, outside of the home, outside of work hours, if things continue. I just do not go out very much. I would probably wear them if I left home to run some errands, but that would happen very rarely. It seems that wearing them on the way home will be the only way to show my coworkers what normal guys look like when they wear.

The store provides change rooms in the coat room, so that it is easy for us to get changed after work. I could carry a bag with me to work. Having all of my belongings in a bag might make me feel more prepared and comfortable.

What do you all think? Should I get changed after work?

The end. Thank you for reading!

Business Shorts And Suit: Reward For The First Year Of Work

Lately, I have been making goals to keep me motivated at work.

Every time I go to work, I buy myself a nice medium smoothie, or a Julius original, from Orange Julius. There have been times that I missed out on the treat, because I bought some Chinese food, and did not feel like it at the next break, but for the most part, I have been very consistent about it.

I have also made some larger goals. Every time I complete a full calendar month of employment, I will treat myself to something bigger, like maybe a nice sundae from Dairy Queen. We will see.

I have also made a long term goal. When I complete my first year of work, I will treat myself to a new black suit with business shorts. I think that it will look quite nice. Hopefully the suit will match my kilts. I chose this as a reward, because of how important it is that I be able to go out with visible hosiery, while wearing a suit.

The end. Thank you for reading!

Duties At Sears

After working for about 3.5 weeks at Sears, I am beginning to understand my role there. Generally speaking, most of my time there is spent working the cash register, and getting shoes. Sometimes, I open and close the cash registers. As far as hosiery goes, I spend a lot of time tidying up the hosiery racks and pulling out new stock. I do focus on hosiery a bit more than others, but hosiery is such a small part of it.

It bothers me that I spend so little time taking care of the hosiery, but there is very little that I can do about it. I think that I need to realize that the hosiery situation is a problem and that it was that way before I came, and that it will be that way long after I am gone. I believe that Sears has so much variety and so little space for it, that it would be impossible to fix the problem at my level of employment. It would cost Sears too much to bring me in more often, just for dealing with hosiery.

All of this makes me a little upset, but it also forces me to look on the positive side, because if I do not, then I will just end up being miserable or quitting. A lot of us consider this to be a good milestone for men. I need to stay focused on that. I must learn to appreciate the fact that I can help some people get hosiery, when they would not have been able to otherwise.

If I ever get rich, then I intend to open a hosiery store, so that I can take pride in great quality hosiery that is organized and well displayed. It would be a hobby business. As long as I can break even, then it is worth it.

I just need to stick it out for 2 years, and then move on. This type of a job will never be a great long term job. This means that I have 101.5 weeks to go!

The end. Thank you for reading!

Finished Ironing Pants Into Business Shorts

Do you remember me buying pants from the army surplus store? I finished measuring the shorts, and ironing them, with the legs folded in, to make them easier to sew. I ironed them, with the legs folded in, because once they are ironed, it makes them easier to sew. The end. Thanks for reading!

Benefits Of Me Selling Hosiery At Sears

I am still a little bummed out about not being able to tell people that I, a man, wear hosiery, when I sell hosiery at Sears. I have reflected on it, though, I can see that there are a couple of positives. Read the remainder of my post for more info.

Maybe I Will Not Fight The Issue

I did a search for discrimination complaints, and read up about them. It seems that there are many sad stories of people being ripped off. I have no way of verifying any of those stories, but I believe most of them to be true.

After a bit of reflection on those stories, I came to the conclusion that the only way to survive in this world is to be positive and appreciative of what I have been given: a job; a job helping to sell hosiery. There are many more things too. It would be great to be able to tell people where I get my product knowledge and experience from, but it is not a battle worth fighting in the next few months.

I will think about the possibility in January.

Not Allowed To Mention That I Wear Hosiery

I was told yesterday that I am not allowed to tell customers that I wear hosiery. I agreed to it, because I want to keep my job. I thought about it this morning, and became mad. Read the remainder of my post to see what I think.

Feet Still A Little Rough

I have been applying petroleum jelly regularly, and my feet are much smoother, but the heels still have a slight Velcro feel, when removing hosiery. I think that I need to start applying in between showers. I remember my heels being smoother when I did it before. In those days, I applied it more.

Also, the skin problems might be because my feet are more calloused from all the walking with my door knocking jobs, whereas before, I only had regular thick skinned heels.

Are any of you dealing rough feet?

My Order From The Stylish Fox Is Coming!

The package has been sent by USPS First Class! We will watch the clock together. ;^P because the review will be about her service as much as it is about her products.

So far, so good.

Girl catchs a train

Moisturizer On My Heels

Yesterday, I started putting petroleum jelly on the heels of my feet, so that my skin will be smooth by time the hosiery from The Stylish Fox comes. I think that my skin needs to be in the best condition possible, in order for me to give the best review possible.

My skin is not so bad as this, but it is mildly similar.
