My Birthday Clothing

I went out on my birthday, yesterday, and this is what I wore.

If you like it, then please take a moment to hype it.

I am very proud of the outfit, because I think that the colours work really well, and because it has a very masculine look to it.

Some teenage guys were not so enthusiastic about it. A couple of them in the group, were speaking out loud about how surprised they were. They said something like, "What is this?!". It does not matter, though. We just press on. In fact, it made my birthday better, because it means that my efforts attracted some attention.

Later today, I will try to post some blooper photos at my Flickr account, and then announce it with a blog post tomorrow. Here you go!

Got Some Support From A Female Friend

I noticed that she liked a photo of me on Facebook, and the photo had a small glimpse of my upper leg showing with opaque hosiery. I asked her how she felt about it, and it turns out that she never even noticed it at first. She has no problems with it, and her grandfather also wore hosiery under pants to keep warm. He tried so many brands, but none of them actually worked.

It looks like we made progress.

I thanked her for her support.

Volunteering At Food Event

I have volunteered to work at Feeding The 5000 Vancouver, where free gourmet food will be served. Since I have been given a leadership position, I think that it is of the upmost importance that I wear semi-opaque hosiery, so that it is obvious, that I am not wearing athletic clothing. I want to be a good example of what a hosiery wearer looks like.

They have entrusted me the opportunity to look after security. This is new for me, in that I have never volunteered for leadership positions, as far as I know.

Wore Shorts And Hosiery Today

I volunteered as a production assistant for Becoming Sophie, which is different from the other movie with the same name. I have 2 pieces of good news.

The small good news is that I got a chance to show off some nice mostly opaque navy blue hosiery. They got to see a straight guy in hosiery and shorts. I do not know if they know if I am straight, though. Since I was doing this as volunteer work, they got good work out of me. That means that when they see a guy in hosiery, they see hosiery on a guy in good light.

The big good news is that I got a chance to speak to the star of the show, who is also the writer of the show and the highest producer. She did so much work for her production. I was able to explain to her that I learned about trends and wanted to put it to use with a fashion trend. I was also able to share a bit about how I got started selling hosiery.

We took a few moments to talk about supporting the guy in her life, if he decided to wear, and she agreed to do it. She asked about me feeling a bit squished, when I wear them, and if I recall correctly, I explained that I just adjust myself if needed, and that I usually simply chose a pair that does not squish. I shared that even just wearing ordinary underwear and pants also created the squished feeling. After all, pants can be heavy fabric, and it can weigh down my genitalia.

We also discussed how newer styles do not slip down as easily.

An interesting thing is that she touched my knee, when she wanted to indicate what she was talking about. This shows that she has no fear or disgust regarding men in hosiery. She seemed very supportive in her body language and what she said.

So, we have a new supporter, and potentially a gal, who will wear more.

Was Seen Wearing Opaques

I wore my usual hosiery and shorts today, when I went for an acting audition.

The people waiting for the audition must have seen me, because I spent a few moments pulling up my footless hosiery for the actual audition. I assumed that the casting director wanted to see my bare legs, since they got me to audition as a swimmer. I pulled up my t-shirt sleeves, too.

When I got off of the last bus for the return trip, I saw a guy looking at my legs. At least, I thought that he was, at first. When I kept an eye on him, as I walked, I could see him still looking down at my legs.

My first impression was that he was looking at me in shock and disgust. I thought about it, and then assumed that he might be a secret hosiery wearer, and maybe--just maybe--I might have been the inspiration that he needed to wear publically. I doubt it, but it is exciting to think about!

Hmm. I was about to publish this blog post, and then I realized that if he knew the difference between opaque hosiery and sports legwear, then he probably had a good knowledge about hosiery. That means that he was probably a hosiery wearer.

I was wearing grey opaque footless hosiery at the time. The colour might have made it easier for him to see that it was not just regular sports legwear, which is usually black. The glaring sun might have made it even harder to see what kind black clothing I would have wore, if I did wear black.

Wore Mostly Opaques To Outings Yesterday

I must admit that I was a bit nervous. It has been a while since I wore mostly opaques or semi opaques, or sheers in public. However, once I was out of the home, I felt quite liberated.

It was refreshing to be able to wear something so smooth and silky in public and not have it be a problem.

I went a couple of volunteer opportunities, which paid honourariums. They paid so much that they effectively paid me a low income earner's day's wages.

I also went to apply at a temporary work employer. They are employers, who send us from place to place, doing temporary work. I do not know what other countries are like, so I thought that I should have explained to you what a temporary work employer is.

During each of the volunteer opportunities, I was informally interviewed for a project. Each organization had its own project. During one of the volunteer opportunities, the topic of my hosiery came up. I had a chance to mention that I liked to wear it in a normal way.

The people in the other volunteer opportunity must have seen my hosiery. I know that 1 guy was looking down. They will see my hosiery photo later this month, when we go to an art show.

I felt so fortunate, because I was able to touch high quality hosiery in public, while I sat on the bus and train. It really felt so good, that for a moment I wondered if hosiery could possibly helped to reduce depression or maybe even cure it.

Today's outing was quite successful. I hope to wear sheer hosiery out of the home in the future.

Making Grey Footless Out Of Good Condition Hosiery

I decided to do the unthinkable: cut up the toe portions of hosiery to make footless hosiery, even though they are still in great condition. I figure that if I were to make a good impression on onlookers, then I would need to vary my outfits, otherwise people might think that I am wearing the same pairs every day. That means using hosiery that is not black on some days, and black on others.

The pair that I am about to cut up is more expensive than the average hosiery that I wear. It is full of lines that are not pin stripes. I think that the manufacturer did a poor job on it. Even though it is more expensive than the average pair, I do not think that I would wear it for any special ocassion, due to the unusual stripes, and due to the feel of the fabric, so I would be getting better use out of it as footless hosiery at work.

Have you ever cut up a good pair on purpose?

Somebody Looked At My Legs Maybe

While waiting in line for the bus, on Saturday morning, to come home, I noticed that somebody looked down towards my legs. I do not know if that is exactly what she was looking at, but I tried to pretend that I did not notice.

I was wearing my grey mostly opaque hosiery.

Later, I checked out my leg to see what might have been staring at for so long. It turns out that I got a run, and that might have caught her attention and alerted her to the fact that I was wearing hosiery.

I think that our message is getting out there.

Choosing Hosiery For Work

I am debating with myself about what footless hosiery to wear to work. I think that the job is going to make my skin so rough, that it would be pointless to wear hosiery that feels nice to the touch. It would only get wornout much faster, and I will not be able to enjoy the smooth texture.

Therefore, I am planning on wearing the pair of footless hosiery that I like the least. Oddly enough, it is the most expensive pair. It seems to feel the least pleasant and the most uncomfortable.

A problem that I have is that I do not have any other pair of hosiery that I dislike enough and appears respectable enough that I can wear it to work. In other words, if I only wore what I disliked that looked respectable enough, then I will end up wearing 1 pair. I am concerned that people might think that I never changed my clothes.

Maybe I just have to be prepared to kiss the grey footless hosiery goodbye, even though I like it. Maybe I just need to appreciate the good times, and not hold on forever.

An option is to wear pants, but that would mean not showing people that men wear hosiery. Then again, if I wear opaque hosiery, then most of them would never notice, anyways. Therefore, wearing pants might be a better option. Then again, if I wear pants, then I would need to find 2 pairs of them, so that people will not think worse of me, and finding 2 pairs of pants that I do not like is similar to finding 2 pairs of hosiery that I do not like.

If you have advice, then please do share.

Wearing Hosiery At Work Update

So, other than a coworker asking me if I biked to work, my hosiery has not brought up many conversations; and not surprisingly, not any conversions.

The thing that bothered me the most is the fact that I seem to have very rough hands. Most of the joy of wearing hosiery is being able to touch my own hosiery clad legs every now and then. If I cannot do that, then it is almost pointless, unless I plan to wear support hosiery for circulation improvement.

I am not completely certain about how it happened, but I think that it is becasue my fingers are constantly handling new plastic, which absorbs, or at least removes, hand oils. Imagine touching a new napkin every minute. Sooner or later, your fingers are going to get really dry. I believe that it is the same with the plastic.

There is not much that I can do about it, though, except for maybe wear gloves. I think that I will try a pair of gloves to see what happens, since I have a spare pair of disposable gloves from my military days.

My Factory Job And Hosiery

So far, it has been a safe positive experience.

1 guy asked me if I biked there. I stated that I did not, and that I just like to dress this way. I never explained it much more. I think that it might be interesting to explain, but it would not be necessary.

An interesting aspect of wearing hosiery every day for a job is needing to think about what to wear. I do not want to wear my favourites, but I do not want to wear poor quality hosiery.

Also, since I wear steel toe safety work boots, I am tempted to convert several pairs of my hosiery into footless hosiery, otherwise my hosiery will wear out quickly.

Wearing Hosiery And Shorts At My New Job

It is not often that we men get to wear shorts and hosiery in public. I get to wear it to my new job, which I got on Tuesday, and started on Wednesday. The atmosphere is extremely casual. People wear shorts and jogging pants.

It is a factory job. I will operate a machine and keep it running to produce plastic bags.

Tomorrow, I have another job interview, so I will wear pants tonight, but I hope to wear sheers and shorts during the next shift.

I would love to read your thoughts on this! :^)

Found Another Seller Of Phantom Silks

A week and a half ago, I went into a store that I found to count up the quantities of Silks hosiery that they have. I am really happy for fans of Phantom Silks, because they now have a new stash of hosiery.

Unfortunately for the seller, she gets so little customer interest in hosiery, that people are not looking at the products. They have been there since well before 2011. I am confident that she bought them before the buyout.

Fortunately for the fanatic enthusiasts, that source of hosiery will almost definitely be there for years to come.

To help her get rid of it, I spent time organizing the racks, so that the hosiery would be easy to find. It was all volunteer work, but it is important to me that she be able to get rid of it. She was happy with my work, so she gave me a package of coffee flavoured candies.

I wore my shorts and opaque footless hosiery during my visit.

Went Out Wearing Black Mostly Opaques Today

It was good change of pace, sicne I normally wear completely opaque footless hosiery.

I wore army boots, so nobody could tell that I was wearing footed hosiery, but the mostly opaque fabric still caught a bit of attention. I noticed people passing by me, looking at my legs. 1 woman told her friend, and her 2 friends looked back. At least, I think that they were looking at me.

I think that what made it more noticable was the rainy weather. Not many guys are going to wear shorts in rainy weather, right? Therefore, when they see me wearing shorts, they will also notice that I am wearing hosiery.

I wore mostly opaques, because I had epilated my legs a couple of days ago, this pair was almost ready to be washed. I epilated, because I expected to model the Fangi Pangi hosiery that arrived earlier in the week.

I really missed wearing sheer hosiery and mostly opaque hosiery. I do not feel like I am really advocating hosiery, unless it is sheer or mostly opaque. What about you guys?

Woman Wants To Take My Photo

Last blog post, I mentioned that I met with a gal about business. We chatted and got to know each other. She mentioned that she wanted to take my photo, because my Facebook profile photo made me look 50+. I just realized that if she wants to take my photo, after seeing me wearing hosiery, then obviously, she is not repulsed by my appearance.

I find that encouraging.

I [A Man] Wore White Hosiery & Boots

Today, I ran a lot of errands. In addition to the above, I wore black shorts and a white shirt. I felt so awkward due to the colours, but I decided to keep going, as if I were the most awesome guy in the world. Overall, not too bad.

I met up with a girl who wanted to discuss me making smart phone websites. She was not put off by me wearing opaque hosiery and boots. She wanted to hug me. I managed to tell her a bit about why I wear, and what I am trying to achieve. She did not say much about it, but she seemed happy for me. We had that web stuff stuff to discuss, so it was hard to keep focused on that.

I also got paid to perform for a commercial. They never filmed my legs, but it was all okay.

I also checked out another department store branch to see if they had any Silks Waistband-free Tights [style #2395]. They did. I will have to pick some up in the future.

It was a great day, with a tiny bit more to come. Thank you for reading!

Wore Hosiery And Shorts On Tuesday

Many people wonder what it is like for a guy to go out in shorts and #mantyhose. I am a guy, and I wore dark grey shimmery hosiery and black shorts, on Tuesday and Wednesday.

On Tuesday, a good casual female friend asked me about them. I told her that I wore them, because I liked the fabric [or something like that], and because I wanted to start a trend. She seemed impressed by the fact that I wanted to start a trend, and she said, Or you could wear them, just because you like them.. I feel that she has been very supportive of my writing endeavours. Therefore, I am not surprised that she is supportive of my hosiery wearing. I am a bit attracted to her, which makes it even more interesting.

On Tuesday night, I washed them. When I donned them, the next day, they were a little bit damp still.

On Wednesday, I went for coffee with a friend that I met when I was in the army. She always seems supportive of people in general, so I thought that it would be good to catch up with her. She never said anything about them. So, I did not bother bringing it up. I did briefly mention that I had an e-commerce business, but I never went into the details. I probably should have, so that I could have told her more about it. The good thing is that she was still glad to see me.

Has anything new related to hosiery happened to you? I am asking men and women.

Wore Shorts And Sheers Today

I was quite happy with the results. I wore all black, except for the painted design on the shirt. The overall appearance was not super awesome, but it was adequate.

I went out to participate in a university research project. The person in charge was very attractive. She wore a short skirt, and black sheers. It was fun to get a close up look. For a couple of moments, when I was expected [but not required] to look away, I glanced back, and saw that she was checking out my legs. I wish that I could have felt her hosiery or even asked her out, but I am sure that it would not have been so simple. It was a pleasant experience, though.

Next time, I plan to whistle at her, if she is dressed in hosiery.

Wore Hosiery During Outing With Parents

Yesterday, I wore grey opaque full length hosiery, during an outing with my parents. We had to attend to something, and then went to dim sum. Overall, the outing went well. I wanted to ask my parents if they would mind me wearing, but I decided to not do it, since they kind of owed it to me, and since they had plenty of time adjusting to it.

I found that everybody acted normal. We had various unrelated conversations, that seemed unrelated to my clothes. They did not seem nervous, or anything.

We had to see somebody during the outing, and the person asked if I biked there, which was kind of funny. The person was just making small talk and being friendly. Because of the importance of the visit, I just explained that I was just trying to start a fashion trend. The person seemed to understand.

Progress!

My Visit To Fogal

I visited Fogal on Tuesday. I great euphoric experience. For another review, see what Fantasy Stockings has to say about Fogal's Vancouver store.

1 thing that I loved is the warm welcome that I received, when I walked in the door. I did not expect much attention from them, because I am used to thinking of them as upper class people from Europe. There was nobody else in the store, so she spent time telling me about the interesting things.

Another thing that I loved was store decorations. She told me about how all the decorations came from Italy. There were panels that were covered in leather. They wanted to ensure that we got the full Fogal experience. At first, I felt that that was weird. It seemed to be so much trouble, but it eventually made sense to me.

Another thing that I loved was her telling me about the sale today, which seemed kind of weird, because companies do not always like to give out sale information too early. She said that 2 days early was not a big deal.

Another thing that I loved was her offering a brochure and catalog, which is not a big deal, but I do consider it to be a good gesture, since I am not the type of person who buys a lot. Those things cost a lot of money.

Another thing that I loved was the sample hosiery display. It was such a sight to behold. It is not just pieces of fabric. Each sample is an entire pair of hosiery. The fact that they offered so much hosiery for people to examine closely shows how passionate they are about the hosiery. All the hosiery felt so wonderful to the touch. Another thing so wonderful is the variety of colours that they have.

Another thing that I loved was the attitude of the assistant manager towards me. I kind of expected her to just be polite towards guys, since they are potential customers, but she went so far as to ask me if I wanted to work for them. I was shocked. I assumed that she was not offering a job, and I confirmed it, but it was cool in that we talked about what I could do to apply, and what kinds of things I would need to do as an employee.

Just so that you know, I asked her if she has ever seen a guy wear hosiery and shorts before, but she has not. I was not sure if she even noticed my hosiery clad legs. When I asked her about noticing me, she said that she noticed, but she assumed that I was wearing leggings. I said that I was wearing footless hosiery, and she said, Yes, leggings.. I did not argue the point. I understood where she was coming from. The point, though, is that even though she only saw a guy wearing hosiery for the first time, she accepted me so well, that she happily helped me to apply for work, even though there was not a lot of business. How often are women so accepting of men wearing hosiery? I want to touch on that again, another day.

I think that Wolford employees and executives need to shop at Fogal, so that they can learn from Fogal's strengths and weaknesses. I ended up visiting Wolford, after I left, and I noticed a stark contrast in how the 2 companies treat me. I will write about that, for tomorrow or soon.

In the mean time, I suggest that you go down there and say hello. I really want all new hosiery stores to feel welcome in Greater Vancouver, and Canada. There is a Fogal store in Toronto, that you might like to check out.

Be sure to mention that Hosiery Advocate sent you. Thank you for reading!
